What I Always Have When Flying
When I travel the expression, “pack lightly” doesn’t exist. So below are all the things I make sure to have in my carry-on so I can access them at any point during my flights.
Away - for both our carry-on & checked bags we are in love with the away brand. It has all the compartments you need, super sleek & lightweight. If you purchase an Away, use this link for $20 off. The thing I love most about the brand is that they back their products. When a zipper on my backpack ripped, I emailed them & immediately they shipped out a replacement bag. They overnighted it!!! Good customer service is hard to come by these days.
Manta Sleep Mask - this is our holy grail. Both Daniel + I use this on every flight — he even uses it nightly at home!
Manta Travel Pillow - it has 4 positions, it’s fast to inflate, & is so easy to travel with because it shrinks up small! This is truly my favorite product to have on hand for flights, especially early morning or long ones.
Liquid IV - you lose hydration when you fly. It’s a fact! So for me, I always have a few liquid IV’s on hand. And right now you can save THIRTY percent with code “mollyweinberg25.” This is valid until 2/14.
Sanitation - I normally grab the travel size version of disinfectant wipes from Target or CVS, but if you wanna buy in a larger quantity, this is a good deal! And I LOVE EO’s spray hand sanitizer. I can’t find the link to the peppermint one (I got mine in person at Whole Foods), but here’s a link to the lavender scent.
Comrad Socks - ever notice swollen ankles once you land? Yeah, it ain’t cute. Which is exactly why I make sure to pack my softer pair of Comrad compression socks when I fly. Once I’m situated in my seat I take off my sneakers + typical ankle socks & swap them with these bad boys. When I land, my ankles are never swollen & I feel ready to rock!
“Compression is a medical technology used to improve blood and lymphatic circulation by applying pressure to the legs. It works naturally to reduce swelling, energize legs, & prevent dangerous circulatory conditions and blood clots.”
Moisturizer - Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask replenishes my dehydrated yucky plane-skin SO well. Feels wonderful to put on & it’s under 3.4 ounces so it’s good to go for carry-on. It’s currently out of stock, but hopefully will be replenished soon! Another favorite in the meantime, is moisturizer from First Aid Beauty. FAB makes some of my favorite skincare (they’re wild oat hydrating toner is incredible).
Lip Balm - let’s not play. If I have chapped lips I am not gonna be a happy camper. I have 3 favorites. This one from Summer Friday’s that feels like smooth butter. This one that’s meant for sleeping, but I don’t care, I use it around the clock. Plus it will last you sooo long. And this one that is the least expensive, but has the best applicator IMO. (I prefer a slanted tip - easiest to apply!)
Hair - gotta keep things fresh. I use this detoxifying dry shampoo before I go to sleep, but depending on the status of my hair I’ll use this in flight so when I land I’m all set. And I swear by Silk scrunchies — they don’t leave a line & don’t break hair.
Portable Phone Charger - not all planes have chargers (insane, I know) so I always make sure to have 1 fully charged one on me! This is what I currently have & really like it.
AirPods + EarPods - Yep, I travel with both! AirPods for when I’m out + about, but for when I’m actually in flight, I rely on my EarPods because I know they won’t fall out when I’m fast asleep. Daniel prefers these over the ear headphones because they’re soft on the ears & most importantly, noise cancelling!
Gum - cliche AF, but I need my ears to pop so they’re not clogged the entire flight. We always buy PUR gum (I like the spearmint) because it’s aspartame free & actually improves your breath!
Bookbag - I am in love with my away one (I swear this isn’t sponsored, I’m just a huge fan). And Daniel swears by his Tumi. It’s not cheap, but the quality is outstanding.
Water Bottle - I really like this Hydro Flask, but if you ask Daniel he swears by his Contigo.
Book/Kindle - I use audible & my recent favorites are Atomic Habits + Buy Yourself the F*cking Lillies
KIND Bars - if I don’t have a snack, I’m not happy. KIND bars + lesser evil popcorn + Hu Chocolate are my absolutely favorites.
Am I forgetting something that’s a MUST when you fly? Let me know!
