What I Ask For At The Nail Salon
I can’t even recall the amount of times I get complimented on my nails. I’m not immune to the praise, by all means keep the love coming! But I feel it’s time to put into words what I ask for since I’m asked via DM on a daily basis.
I have been going to the same nail salon since 2014! I was a junior in college when I found “my place,” and I haven’t found anything better for what I want. Now, if you know me, you know I like nice things and “being bougie” isn’t a diss, it’s a compliment in my book! So when I tell you I get my nails done once a month at a hole-in-the-wall place you’re gonna be like, “ew.” BUT I’ve never had a bad experience so I’ll continue seeing my girl Lee for as long as I can!
Shape - I ask for long round almond shape. It’s specific AF, but that’s the kind of gal I am. I love the look of square, but they chip way too easily. So round almond it is! I also ask for my cuticles to be cut because I despise when they’re easily seen.
Color - When I tell you I’ve been getting the same color for OVER 12 months, it’s not an exaggeration. The brand is Revel and the name of the color is, “Bette.” It’s the most beautiful, feminine, light pink without any tacky glitter. It’s perfect and 99% what I’ll wear on my wedding day, too!
Type – A dip mani is the only manicure I can get down with these days. It lasts 3-4 weeks, keeps my nails so strong, and doesn’t peel like it’s biggest “competitor,” gel does. I request to not use the UV dryers because skin cancer prevention is REAL people. I don’t f with that, but I know people around me in the salon do use those things for dip. Your call on that!
