@Ramen Menu Review
Who doesn’t love a good bowl of ramen? Especially in this freezing cold month of March! Mother nature…. WHAT IS YOUR DEAL.
If you’re familiar with Manayunk’s food scene you’ve probably either eaten at @Ramen, or at least heard about it. Well, great news! This restaurant cloned itself and now is a fan favorite in the center city district.
Located 1608 Sansom Street, this stylish Asian eatery had its grand opening in February and has been busy ever since! You are able to dine-in at their ramen counter (right where the chef makes the concoctions), their high-top tables, or at the window there’s about 5 stools for you to people watch! It’s certainly not a big establishment, and there are no reservations taken, but from the couple hours I spent in the restaurant, most people ordered their meals to-go.
The owner Jason (nicest guy!) had me swing by for a menu tasting. Here’s the recap:
Edamame – basic af, simple, and good. How’s that for a review? ;) Really though, you can't go wrong with this classic. Cooked well and salted fairly.
Chicken Dumplings – we ordered them boiled and my brother (Max) LOVED them. I personally didn’t taste because #kosher, but he said they were the perfect consistency and very savory. They also offer them in pork and beef.
Tan Tan Ramen – if you like it HOT (and I don’t mean the temperature) this dish is for you! Max ordered this one since it has a chicken broth base. He LOVED it! He doesn’t eat pork so he got it without and he said it was still very good and super flavorful. The color was so vibrant and the smell emitting from the bowl was strong AF. Your eyes are def gonna water a lot, and you’ll probably need to chug the complimentary water that comes along with the dish, but no judgement!
Miso Ramen – Mmm mmm. Miso anything is the best, right?! My roommate ordered this the other night and she said it was the best ramen she’s ever had, and she’s had quite a lot in her lifetime! The broth was very dark (due to the pork) which added nice contrast to the vegetables, and it wasn’t too salty which a lot of Ramen places are. Her favorite part was the way they roasted the pork. They TORCHED it! It was a very cool site to see.
Truffle Mushroom – saved the best for last. OMG this truffle ramen is just so good. I know that’s not descriptive, or probably even helpful, but this truffle mushroom ramen was remarkable! If you like mushrooms, you’ll love this dish! Not at all spicy; this ramen has a salty, savory, delectable broth with added REAL truffle oil. The best part is this whole bowl is vegetarian AND vegan! Have you ever had kale noodles in your ramen? I hadn’t before trying this and now I’m obsessed. They add a really nice flavor, and the green color is so fun! I added an organic soy-flavored egg (sorry vegans) and it was cooked perfectly. The yolk was the tiniest bit runny and JAM-PACKED with soy goodness taste. I loved the even amount of each part of the bowl, especially the mushrooms themselves. They were cooked well and balanced the bowl seamlessly.
It’s safe to say, any of the ramen bowls are extremely filling so you definitely get bang for your buck. You have the ability to make your bowl extra spicy, swap out the regular noodles for kale, whole wheat, or egg ramen, and add an organic soy-flavored egg (all for an additional cost).
Stop in and taste what I’ve been raving about for a month now! They’re open Monday-Saturday 11am-8:30pm daily (closed on Sunday's). If you’re lazy af (it’s okay we all have those days) you can order @Ramen via Caviar.
